From the research I've done, not everyone comes back after a death in Deerington. They disappear for good, maybe back to their world, maybe lost in Sodder's nightmare realm. Death isn't supposed to be permanent here, but it can be. You almost didn't come back, but let's be honest, you're too stupid to know when to actually die off for good.
