Where the hell did you find a live horse?

[ He's smiling while he says it, disbelief and outright amusement clashing wildly as he tries to to keep a straight face. It's a moot point though. Especially after the pony starts nosing at his jeans. Nobody could not smile at that.

Jesse glances down, and there's a muffled whoa there as he tries to redirect the pony's attention. ]

[ She’s not gonna stop the laugh though. ]

I dunno that you’ve ever sounded more like a cowboy than just now your entire time here. Please say you’re gonna keep her, Eddie was judging hard when she was standing in the kitchen.

It weird I'm not surprised she was in your kitchen? Sounds like Eddie had the right idea anyway. Kitchen ain't no place for a horse.

[ He shakes his head, failing worse with his stern look by the second. It’s practically not even there anymore. ]

‘Course I’m gonna keep her. I think Jane was getting’ a little lonely in that stable all on her own, so it’s good to have a roommate for her.

[ She beams when he says he's keeping her. Thank God. She could not care for a horse. ]

Good! And where else was I supposed to keep her? I couldn't put her in the yard. What if you'd come over to visit Angela or just been walking by or whatever and seen her? Surprise ruined.

Plus, she was in my room when I woke up, next to the basket. It was hard enough getting her to go down the stairs, holy shit. I live in a closet practically, it is not pony friendly.

[ Jesse laughs again, slapping his knee at the thought of it. He can picture it clear as day too. ]

You're lucky she didn't trample you on the way down! Poor thing is gonna need a nice quiet place after all that mess, aren't you girl?

[ That last part is, of course, directed at the horse whose head and ears are periodically in and out of the frame. ]

But you know I'm not gonna let this slide without a little payback, right?

That's me - filled to the brim with luck. [ That was the biggest lie she's ever told with such confidence. ]

I'd be real interested to see how you're gonna top that.

I got almost a whole year to plan, so it'll be somethin' worth the wait.

[ And based on the mischievous look in his eyes, he's not bluffing. ]

Now I think it's about time I took this girl on back to see her new neighbor. Here's to hopin' they get along.
