Hey there, stranger. Don't think I gotta explain the situation: you called, I didn't pick up. Leave me a message and maybe I'll get back to you.

Ashe could recall how her mother's circle always wanted the bigger and better Christmas trees and decorations. Holiday parties who get togethers aligned with judging then partying as they sized each other up in some unspoken competition.
While she may not have appreciated her mother's lifestyle, she was definitely a go big or go home kinda gal and so that meant improving every year.
"No less than fifteen feet. We can tie the rope from the second floor balcony to make sure it's held proper. And I got some extra lights this year."

Jesse catches Ashe’s hand, pressing a quick kiss to the back of it before shooting a grin towards the omnic of their party. Poor B.O.B. always did get stuck with the grunt work, but at least he never seemed to mind it. It’s more interesting than the stuff Ashe’s parents had him do back home anyhow, least from what Jesse can remember. No serving drinks to rich folks who didn’t appreciate it.
“Well then, you’d best lead the way while we got the daylight.”

Ashe takes the opportunity to shift to his side and loop her arm through his so she can curl against him, for warmth of course. To keep it light hearted she nudges him gently.
"First you gotta rely on the store to get turkey and now here you are tellin' me that you can't cut a measly fifteen foot tree. My my Jesse, what's happening to you in your old age?"
She motioned to B.O.B. who starts leading them in the direction of the woods that were closest to their home. They were out in the countryside, but not so far from the woodlands that they couldn't make the walk work if they wanted to.
"It's about a thirty minute walk, hope you got it in you."

Like it so often does now, his thoughts turn towards the ring. The one he’d shoved down into a drawer in a panic, not knowing what to do with it and deathly afraid Ashe would see. And like he has been, he redirects his attention elsewhere. It’s not like she knows about it. No need to worry himself over it.
“I think what’s happenin’ is your expectations are getting a little too big. You gonna ask me to lasso the moon next?”
He starts off after B.O.B., keeping Ashe close as they go. If his luck holds out, they can walk the whole half hour there like this.
“I think I can manage if you can—because if I’m old, that means you are too y’know.”

She turned towards him and gave him a broad grin. "Oh could you darlin'? Lasso the moon? Bring it right down here to Earth purely for my own personal enjoyment." Wasn't there some old holiday movie that had something about lassoing the moon in it. She'd have to ask Chloe.
"And don't you worry, you don't gotta get me the moon. I'm usually content with shiny things a little closer to home."
Was it a reference to the ring? Maybe, she had been trying to figure out ways to hint at it to see his response. She made the references so benign though so she as treading very lightly. It would be easy to just brush it off as being a thief she liked jewelry if it got weird, but it had been on her mind a lot lately.
At least she can laugh at the other piece. "I guess those age jokes do kind of bite me in the ass." She laughs and pulls him closer still.

“Sure would be easier to lasso something shiny down where on the ground than it would be to get the moon. Especially since it’s no friend of mine these days, least when it’s full.”
See? That wasn’t so bad! Very casual.
“With Christmas coming up and all, though… I could use a hint or two. Y’know. If there was something you were in the market for, in that category. Shiny, I mean.”
That… was less casual. Still not the worst, but also not his best. He’s too close to this, and he knows he should back off the subject, but… shit. What if she’s implying something? Probably not, she just likes jewelry. She always has. That’s not weird. It’d be weirder if she’d be hinting she wanted a ring of all things. And if she’d seen the one he has, she’d just ask… right?
He’s really regretting not having hid it better to begin with.

Christmas always had been a weird time for her, after all it was another holiday she'd mostly been abandoned during. The last one in Deerington had been alright though, even if December had ended with a trip to the past on a doomed ship. She's wondering what could go possibly wrong and trying to let that go.
"Hmm. What do you get the girl that has everythin'?" That was a running joke amongst the gang back home. As far as material goods went, she really wasn't lacking. He'd done well last year, so she wasn't too worried now.
"Hadn't given it much thought. How about you? You got any ideas of what you'd want to get me?"

“You’ve got just about every weapon you could want, and you know I’m not the best at picking out accessories and whatnot.” He is when it’s stuff for himself, but he can’t keep track of what Ashe has or might want. And he’s not about to just start buying stuff to buy it, only to find out she has four of something already.
“You got a hobby you’ve been wanting to pick up? Knitting maybe?” His good-natured smile takes on a bit of a sly edge. “Or maybe something for the bedroom…”
