That’s the long and short of it, yeah. Keep him distracted so even if he doesn’t agree with the bigger plan, he won’t see it comin’ together. Bet he would agree though, if we pitch it right. It’s not like this place is operatin’ under standard procedure of right and wrong. We’re bein’ held prisoner here. Normal rules don’t apply.

it's called elf and it's about a human named buddy who was adopted by elves when he was a baby and he finds out he's not really an elf (being like 6'+ probably tipped off most normal people but buddy's kind of a moron) so he goes to NYC to find the answers to his past and is also exposed to what capitalism has done to christmas. case and point, meeting santa but it's not really santa it's just a santa in a macy's. you sit on a throne of lies.

[ Jesse had paused in the middle of pulling a seat out for himself, and the look of surprise on his face is almost comical. He’s known for a while now that she didn’t want him dead, but… well, he’d never expected an apology. Never needed one honestly, because he wouldn’t have blamed her if she had. He also knows how rare an apology from her is, whether warranted or not. ]

[ It’s moments like this were his ability to prattle on fails him, leaving him completely at a loss for words right when he needs them most. ]

Sugar, you… you don’t got to say that on my account. Wasn’t any real harm done. And even if there were, you couldn’t say I wouldn’t have deserved at least a little of it.

[ Jesse sighs, taking the hint not to press the issue. He gets it. Back home, he'd lost people to violence. Here, they all lose people to powers none of them really understand. Either way, sometimes distracting yourself is the only way to get through the day. So he nods and sets the rag on the counter again. ]

Gotcha. So, in your professional opinion: what should I focus on first?

[ She thought to go on about it, do more explaining, or try to figure out the past, but apologies were hard enough and there was an unspoken understanding floating between them.

Besides, she would definitely that he was deserving of at least some of her wrath, he had a bad habit of toying with her. It was almost like he enjoyed getting her riled up. ]

Depends. You're planning on not attacking loved ones, so you need to learn what's safe to hunt. Usually I go after smaller animals and monsters when I need to. Never deer or townsfolk.
